The construction (replacement) of 3I in the existing center CEIP “Vicente Blasco Ibáñez” in Cheste (Valencia) is not simply considered as a new construction that completes the program needs currently required, but as an opportunity to respond to the boundary treatment between the school center and the urban center, as well as to achieve the necessary specificity required by the program within the common free spaces of the center.
The initial intentions lead us to propose a project that develops as a single, compact element, occupying the northwest corner of the plot and adapting to the irregular geometry defined by the plot morphology without attempting to impose itself on the characteristics of the site with an imposing architectural volume, but rather, creating a precise boundary with the linearity of the wall, which separates the school or play area from the urban space.
The morphology of both the classrooms and the open spaces adapts to this layout. Towards the interior courtyard, however, the classroom elements regain their identity and architectural geometry, each asserting itself as an independent piece, just like the open space that corresponds to it.
